The story of the Golden Fleece

Golden Fleece - Wikipedia

So what about the "merino" side of the possum fur story? Golden Fleece happens to be the name of my favourite merino possum store - so here is a snippet of the story I came across on Wikipedia - click on the link above to read more. . . and don't you think this merino ram in my photo is magnificent! (more about the merinos next post)

Jason returns with the Golden Fleece on an Apulian red-figure calyx krater, ca. 340–330 BCE

In Greek mythology, the Golden Fleece (Greek: Χρυσόμαλλον Δέρας) is the fleece of the winged ram Chrysomallos (Χρυσόμαλλος). It figures in the tale of Jason and his band of Argonauts, who set out on a quest for the fleece in order to place Jason rightfully on the throne of Iolcus in Thessaly. The story is of great antiquity . . .

Hi Barbara.
I love the photo of the merino ram.It relates strongly to the Golden Fleece and Greek methology.
Not sure about the Economic Think Tank thing choosing Possum fur as a possible savior to our economic woes!
We shouldn`t be exporting our special uniquely made merino/possum fur industry! The retail tourist trade depends on this product -- why should we shoot ourselves in the foot!! To our detriment we did this with the Kiwi fruit.

Possum fur can be the saviour as keep in mind it has star qualities, i.e very light, extremely wanrm, and has a natural antibacterial property that stops it smelling. this is why the Europeans love it for winter and particularly when travelling as it is so light. Just me two cents worth
